The Irrational Bouquet

Sometimes, as humans, we are irrational; we don’t always know why we’re upset. When those moments happen it’s hard to articulate what we need because we don’t know. Sometimes, there’s nothing that caused it, which means there’s no amount of rational discussion that can fix it.

This summer I had a day like that. I was sad for no reason and couldn’t articulate what was at the root of it or what might possibly fix it. So, I sat there, sad, drinking my coffee when my niece showed up and handed me a bouquet of wildflowers.

Children are amazing, aren’t they? She didn’t get mad at me for bumming her out or not wanting to play. She didn’t sit and try to fix it, she just did something that she thought would make me happy and walked away.

Find people in life who - when you are sad for no good reason - take a walk and pick you a bouquet of daisies.

Be the kind of person who - when the people in your life are having a bad day for no good reason - you bring them flowers instead of judgement.
